Matrixyl, also known by its INCI name Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (Pal-KTTKS), is a lipopeptide composed of a palmitoyl fatty acid chain conjugated to the pentapeptide sequence Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser (KTTKS). This sequence is a fragment derived from the pro-collagen I molecule and has been extensively studied for its ability to upregulate extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, including collagen I, collagen III, fibronectin, and hyaluronic acid.

In research settings, Matrixyl functions by mimicking matrikine signalling — bioactive peptide fragments released during ECM degradation — thereby stimulating fibroblast activity and promoting tissue remodelling. Studies have investigated its potential in models of dermal repair, photoageing, and wound healing, with findings suggesting dose-dependent increases in collagen synthesis.

Each vial contains 10mg of Matrixyl supplied as a lyophilised powder with a purity of >98% as verified by HPLC analysis. Molecular formula: C₃₉H₇₅N₅O₁₀ (palmitoyl chain included). Molecular weight: approximately 802.04 g/mol. CAS Number: 214047-00-4.

Recommended storage: in a cool, dry environment at –20°C for long-term stability, protected from light and moisture. Reconstitute with sterile water or appropriate buffer prior to use in in vitro or in vivo research protocols.
