Pinealon (EDR) is a short peptide bioregulator consisting of the tripeptide sequence Glu-Asp-Arg (glutamic acid–aspartic acid–arginine). Originally developed by the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, Pinealon is designed to exert a selective regulatory effect on neurons and pineal gland tissue, making it a compelling subject in studies of neurological function, cognitive ageing, and circadian rhythm regulation.
As a peptide bioregulator, Pinealon is theorised to interact with nuclear chromatin and modulate gene expression in neuronal cells, potentially promoting cellular homeostasis and neuroprotection.
