Epithalon (also written Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide consisting of the amino acid sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. Originally derived from the natural peptide epithalamin produced by the pineal gland, it has become one of the most extensively studied peptides in ageing and longevity research.

Mechanism of Action
Epithalon is believed to stimulate the activity of telomerase, the enzyme responsible for maintaining and elongating telomere sequences at the ends of chromosomes. In research settings, this property has made it a subject of significant interest in cellular senescence studies. Additional research has examined its influence on melatonin secretion and the regulation of neuroendocrine function via the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.

Research Applications
Epithalon has been investigated across a broad range of disciplines, including gerontology, oncology, circadian rhythm regulation, and immunology. Studies have explored its potential role in modulating oxidative stress markers and supporting antioxidant defence mechanisms at a cellular level.
