GHRP-2 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-2), also known by its INN name Pralmorelin, is a synthetic hexapeptide and a member of the growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) family. It acts as a potent agonist of the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a), stimulating the pituitary gland to release endogenous growth hormone in a pulsatile, physiologically relevant manner. Unlike GHRH analogues, GHRP-2 also partially suppresses somatostatin, further amplifying GH secretion.
In research settings, GHRP-2 is widely investigated for its role in growth hormone axis modulation, metabolic regulation, and appetite signalling. It has been studied in the context of GH deficiency models, body composition research, and tissue repair mechanisms. Research has also explored its potential cardioprotective and anti-inflammatory properties at the cellular level.
