Hexarelin (also known as Examorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide and potent growth hormone-releasing peptide (GHRP) belonging to the GH secretagogue family. Structurally related to GHRP-6, Hexarelin acts as a ghrelin mimetic, binding to the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1a) in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus to stimulate endogenous growth hormone release in a dose-dependent manner.
In preclinical research settings, Hexarelin has attracted considerable scientific interest beyond its GH-releasing properties. Studies have investigated its interactions with CD36 scavenger receptors in cardiac tissue, with findings suggesting potential cardioprotective mechanisms independent of GH secretion. Research models have also explored its role in modulating IGF-1 levels, body composition, and tissue repair pathways.
